6 Women-Owned Businesses that are Tons of FUN for Creative Kids
Updated: Aug 17, 2022
These Moms know what Creative Kids LOVE!
Are you searching for women-owned businesses that will delight your creative kids? I've found 6 that not only I love, but my creative kids have a blast at! Take into consideration that these businesses are all local to me in South Jersey, but if you aren't in my neck of the woods, bookmark this post for the next time you're visiting Jersey or Philly.
1. The Turquoise Cup
Located in Burlington, NJ at 325 High Street, which is about 25 mins from Philadelphia; The Turquoise Cup is owned by Erica Jones. Erica is the mom of a very creative kid herself who is now a teenager. Erica has been running this ceramic studio since her child was a toddler.
The Turquoise Cup is an art studio and café that exists to help you unwind and be creative. Grab a latte in its café (coming soon), take a pottery class or join a Paint N' Sip evening. They also host events, parties, or offer studio time for local artists. The Turquoise Cup has something for everyone from children's classes, adult events, and activities for the whole family.
My son, Camden, and I had an amazing time painting a ready-made ceramic bank shaped like a car for Father's Day.
It's such a colorful and fun environment! Right now The Turquoise Cup has a Summer Camp happening, PERFECT for your creative kids!

2. Thirsty Palette Paint
The Thirsty Palette Paint is also a mom-owned business located in South Jersey.
It is an independently owned paint and sip provider founded by Jerry Charles-Reid in Mt. Holly. All the instructors are from Mt. Holly or other surrounding local towns. Their main goal is to ensure everyone has fun and walks away with their own interpretation of a masterpiece. They also host Karaoke and Ultimate Game Nights for couples, girls night and families. The prices are reasonable and always include snacks, drinks and wine sampling.
I took my husband there for a date night on Valentine's Day and we had a wonderful time!
Although the Thirsty Palette Paint is located in an art gallery at 76 High St in Mt. Holly, NJ; when I took my Girl Scout Troop there we were in the height of the pandemic so Jerry moved us outside to the little park across the street.
What a joy to paint outdoors! The girls and I had an amazing time!
It's a great place to host your creative kids' next birthday party.

3. Day Play
If you are a work-from-home mom in South Jersey, you'll going to LOVE this new business owned by a 20-something-year-old Philadelphian native! Jakia Piearce opened Day Play this past April inside of the Moorestown Mall as an indoor play space for kids and co-working space for parents!
As a mom herself, "Kia" knew the benefits of having a space where kids could be creative and roam free in a safe environment while parents could get work accomplished.
Bring your laptop and use the complementary Wifi while your kid has the time of his/her life in the ball pit, 2 bouncy houses, slide, and more. There is a gated space for reading, tv watching and puzzles and plenty of engaging, creative activities for your child to explore.
Meanwhile, the caregivers can sit at one of the stylish seating arrangements and nosh on the complementary candy as they get their work done without the standard interruptions that come from working at home with kids in tow.
This business concept is GENIUS! My son and I spent the day there as I wrote this post and it was time well spent!

Note: Day Play is closed on Tuesdays.
4. Fashion Design Center of South Jersey
I'd be remiss if I didn't mention my own business that caters to creative kids! I founded the Fashion Design Center of South Jersey in 2019, although I didn't open for business until September of 2020 thanks to red tape and then of course, the pandemic.
I launched with the intentions of providing a space for people of all ages to come learn to sew and design clothing, accessories and home décor. But for children specifically I have fashion design camp sessions, after-school fashion clubs, and sewing workshops without adults.
I also host fashion birthday parties/playdates. As a mom myself, I know how awesome it is to be able to show up for a great experience and then leave without the clean-up. My unique fashion design parties provide that and much more!

5. Jane's Tea House
Jane's Tea House is practically every little girl's dream. If your creative daughter loves tea parties, playing dress up and taking selfies, this is the place for her! The owner Jane is a mother herself and clearly knows how to create great memories. I visited a few months ago with my daughter and our Girl Scout Troop and had a truly delightful time.
Open Wednesday thru Sunday from 11-4, Jane's Tea House has been voted one of the BEST tea houses in NJ and it's well-deserved.
Take an etiquette workshop, host a baby shower or a birthday party. Or meet a friend for tea and scones. Located at 602 Station Avenue in Haddon Heights but contact first because reservations are required.
Your kids will have a girly good time at Jane's Tea House!

6. Selfie Design Lab
What a pleasant surprise to find another mom-owned creative business that is super fun for kids directly across the hall at Moorestown Mall from #3 Day Play!
The Selfie Design Lab is owned by mompreneur Kendra Newman.
There are 12 unique rooms and incredible lighting for you (or your creative kids) to create your best social media content. Also, you and your children can create & personalize SELFIE merchandise as well. You can rent the space and shoot your social media content by the hour but it's also a fabulous space to host private parties as well. I can imagine teens REALLY digging this place.
I thoroughly enjoyed this modern concept and I know you and your kids will too!
